Elisha prophesies that within a day food will be cheap and plentiful, though a mocking officer scoffs. That night the LORD makes the Aramean army hear the sound of a great host, so they flee in panic, abandoning their camp. Four starving lepers discover it, and the news brings the famine to a sudden end; the scoffing officer is trampled to death in the gateway, exactly as Elisha had said.
