Solomon writes to Hiram, king of Tyre, arranging an alliance to supply cedar and cypress from Lebanon for the temple, in exchange for grain and oil. Hiram rejoices and blesses the LORD, and a great labor force is organized to quarry stone and prepare timber, as Solomon undertakes the house his father David longed to build.
