The chapter surveys the order and prosperity of Solomon’s kingdom, his high officials, his twelve district governors, and the daily provision of his court. Judah and Israel dwell in safety, “every man under his vine and under his fig tree,” and Solomon’s wisdom surpasses all the wisdom of the East, so that people come from every nation to hear him.
