Before the judgments proceed, an interlude reveals God’s care for His people: 144,000 “servants of our God” are sealed on their foreheads, protected as His own. Then John sees “a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation,” standing before the throne and the Lamb in white robes, crying, “Salvation belongs to our God.” These have “come out of the great tribulation,” washed “in the blood of the Lamb”; the Lamb “will be their shepherd,” and “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
