Herod, who had beheaded John the Baptist, hears of Jesus and is troubled. Withdrawing to a lonely place, Jesus is followed by the crowds, and with compassion He heals their sick and feeds five thousand men, besides women and children, from five loaves and two fish. That night He comes to the disciples walking on the sea; Peter walks toward Him but sinks in doubt, and Jesus catches him, saying, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Those in the boat worship Him as the Son of God.
