John the Baptist, dated precisely to the fifteenth year of Tiberius, preaches a baptism of repentance and calls for fruit, warning of the coming judgment and pointing to the mightier One. Jesus is baptized, the heavens open, the Spirit descends, and the Father declares, “You are my beloved Son.” Luke then gives Jesus’ genealogy, tracing His line back through David and Abraham all the way to “Adam, the son of God,” marking Him as Savior of the whole human race.
