Following the ark carried by the priests, Israel comes to the flooded Jordan. As the priests’ feet touch the water, the river stops and stands in a heap upstream, and the nation crosses on dry ground. The LORD thus exalts Joshua in the eyes of the people, confirming that the living God is among them and will drive out the nations.
