At Shechem Joshua rehearses the whole story of grace, from Abraham to the conquest, showing that the LORD gave them a land for which they did not labor. He calls the people to choose whom they will serve and declares, “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” The people vow to serve the LORD, a stone is set up as a witness, and Joshua dies at 110, buried in his inheritance.
