The LORD pronounces judgment on the recent kings of Judah: Shallum (Jehoahaz), who will die in exile; Jehoiakim, who built with injustice and will be buried like a donkey; and Coniah (Jehoiachin), of whom it is written that none of his offspring will prosper on David’s throne. The chapter mourns a royal house that abandoned justice.
