The voice from the throne addresses Ezekiel as “son of man” and sends him to the rebellious, stubborn house of Israel, warning him to speak God’s words whether they hear or refuse. He is handed a scroll written on both sides with “words of lamentation and mourning and woe” and told to eat it.
