Joram of Israel, allied with Jehoshaphat of Judah and the king of Edom, marches against rebellious Moab but runs out of water in the wilderness. For Jehoshaphat’s sake Elisha inquires of the LORD, who fills the trenches with water without wind or rain and lures Moab into a costly defeat. The campaign ends in horror when the king of Moab sacrifices his own son on the wall.
