Saul openly orders David’s death, but Jonathan intervenes and reconciles them for a time. When Saul again tries to spear David and sends men to his house, Michal lets David down through a window and deceives the messengers with an idol in the bed. David flees to Samuel at Ramah, and when Saul’s men and Saul himself pursue, the Spirit of God overtakes them all so that they prophesy helplessly.
