Chapter list
- Chapter 1 (c. 1100 BC): Famine drives Naomi’s family to Moab; after her husband and sons die, Ruth clings to Naomi and her God and returns to Bethlehem.
- Chapter 2 (c. 1100 BC): Ruth gleans in the field of Boaz, a kinsman of Elimelech, who notices her and shows her kindness and protection.
- Chapter 3 (c. 1100 BC): At Naomi’s counsel, Ruth appeals to Boaz at the threshing floor to act as her kinsman-redeemer.
- Chapter 4 (c. 1100 BC): Boaz redeems the family’s land and marries Ruth; their son Obed becomes the grandfather of David.
