As the leaders plot and Judas agrees to betray Him, Jesus keeps the Passover with His disciples and institutes the Lord’s Supper, giving the cup as “the new covenant in my blood.” He foretells Peter’s denial, and in Gethsemane, in agony, He prays, “Father... not my will, but yours, be done,” strengthened by an angel. He is arrested; Peter denies Him three times and weeps bitterly; and Jesus is mocked and, before the council, confesses that He is the Son of God.
