The tribe of Dan, seeking land, sends spies who lodge with Micah and note his priest and idols. Six hundred armed Danites later seize Micah’s images and lure away his Levite, overpowering Micah when he protests. They conquer the peaceful, isolated town of Laish, rename it Dan, and set up the stolen idolatry that will corrupt the region for generations.
