Chapter list
- Chapter 1 (c. 770 BC): Jonah flees God’s call to Nineveh by sea, a great storm arises, and he is thrown overboard and swallowed by a great fish.
- Chapter 2 (c. 770 BC): From the belly of the fish Jonah prays a psalm of distress and thanksgiving, and the fish vomits him onto dry land.
- Chapter 3 (c. 770 BC): Jonah preaches to Nineveh, and the whole city from the king down repents, so that God relents from the threatened disaster.
- Chapter 4 (c. 770 BC): Jonah is angry at God’s mercy, and through a plant, a worm, and a scorching wind God teaches him the compassion he lacks.
