Job’s deepest longings are answered in Christ:

• The Mediator: Job’s cry for an arbiter between God and man (9:33) is fulfilled in “the one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).
• The living Redeemer: Job’s confession that his Redeemer lives and that he will see God in his flesh (19:25-26) points to the risen Christ and the hope of resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20-22).
• The innocent sufferer: Job, righteous yet suffering and then vindicated, foreshadows Jesus, the blameless one who suffered unjustly and was raised to glory (1 Peter 2:21-24).
• The intercessor: Job’s prayer for his friends, for whose sake God accepts them, is a faint shadow of Christ’s saving intercession (Job 42:8-10; Hebrews 7:25).
