God devotes a whole chapter to Leviathan, a fearsome, untamable sea creature that no one dares rouse, whose armored body, fiery breath, and dreadful strength defy every human weapon. If no one can stand before this creature, God asks, who then can stand before its Maker? The point lands with full force: the God who made and masters Leviathan is infinitely beyond Job’s ability to summon to court or call to account.
