Jeremiah dictates all his prophecies to Baruch, who reads the scroll in the temple, and it is brought to King Jehoiakim, who arrogantly cuts it up column by column and burns it in the fire, unmoved. God commands the scroll rewritten with additions, and pronounces judgment on Jehoiakim, whose body will be cast out unburied.
