Jeremiah wears a yoke on his neck as a sign to Judah and the surrounding kings that they must submit to Nebuchadnezzar, whom God calls “my servant,” and warns them not to listen to prophets who promise otherwise. Submission to Babylon is now the way of life; resistance means destruction.
