“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor... to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor,” the very words Jesus read and applied to Himself. The anointed herald comforts mourners, gives “a garland instead of ashes,” and clothes the redeemed with garments of salvation, so that they are called “oaks of righteousness” and the nations see their glory.
