In the year King Uzziah died, Isaiah sees the LORD high and lifted up, the seraphim crying “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts.” Undone by his own uncleanness, Isaiah is cleansed by a burning coal from the altar, and when he hears, “Whom shall I send?” he answers, “Here I am! Send me,” and is commissioned to a hard ministry until only a holy remnant, a stump with a seed of hope, remains.
