The first of the oracles against the nations falls on Babylon, summoning armies for the day of the LORD, a day of wrath that will darken sun and stars and shake the heavens. Babylon, the jewel of kingdoms, will be overthrown like Sodom and left desolate forever, inhabited only by wild creatures.
