From the cut-down stump of Jesse a shoot will grow, the Messiah on whom the Spirit of the LORD rests, who will judge with righteousness for the poor and strike the earth with the word of His mouth. His reign brings the peaceable kingdom, where the wolf dwells with the lamb and “the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD,” as He gathers a remnant from all nations.
