The book ends with a gracious call to repentance: “Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God... Take with you words and return to the LORD.” God promises to answer such repentance with overflowing grace: “I will heal their apostasy; I will love them freely, for my anger has turned from them,” and Israel will flourish “like the lily” and blossom “like the vine.” The closing verse invites the wise to understand these ways of the LORD.
