A search uncovers Cyrus’s decree in Ecbatana, and Darius not only confirms it but orders that the work be funded from the royal treasury and that anyone who interferes be impaled. The temple is completed in the sixth year of Darius (515 BC), and the people dedicate it with joy and sacrifices and appoint the priests and Levites for service. They keep the Passover, rejoicing that the LORD had turned the heart of the king to strengthen their hands.
