A woe falls on those “who are at ease in Zion” and “feel secure,” the complacent elite who lounge on ivory beds, feast on choice meat, drink wine by the bowlful, and “are not grieved over the ruin of Joseph.” Trusting in their own strength and pleasure, they ignore the approaching disaster. God swears He will deliver the city into the hands of an enemy.
