A great persecution scatters the church from Jerusalem, and everywhere they go they preach the word. Philip proclaims Christ in Samaria with great joy and miracles; Peter and John come, and the Samaritans receive the Spirit. Simon the magician tries to buy the Spirit’s power and is rebuked. Then, directed by an angel, Philip meets an Ethiopian court official reading Isaiah 53, explains that the passage speaks of Jesus, and baptizes him, and the eunuch goes on his way rejoicing.
