In Ephesus Paul ministers for over two years, so that “all the residents of Asia heard the word.” God works extraordinary miracles through him; those who practiced magic burn their scrolls, and “the word of the Lord continued to increase and prevail mightily.” The silversmith Demetrius, fearing for the trade in idols of Artemis, incites a riot that fills the theater with the cry “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” until the town clerk quiets the crowd.
