Saul, a tall and handsome young Benjaminite, is out searching for his father’s lost donkeys when he comes to Samuel to inquire of the seer. The LORD has already told Samuel that this is the man to anoint as prince over Israel to save them from the Philistines. Samuel honors Saul at a feast and lodges him, hinting at the great thing God is about to do.
