Twenty years pass, and Samuel calls all Israel to repentance, to put away foreign gods and return to the LORD with all their hearts. Gathered at Mizpah, they confess and fast; when the Philistines attack, the LORD thunders against them and they are routed. Samuel sets up a stone called Ebenezer, “the LORD has helped us,” and judges Israel faithfully all his days.
