Paul tells the Corinthians they are still “of the flesh,” spiritual infants, as their jealousy and strife show. Leaders like Paul and Apollos are merely servants through whom they believed: one plants, another waters, “but God gave the growth.” They are God’s field and God’s building, and “no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” Each builder’s work will be tested by fire. They are God’s temple, indwelt by the Spirit, and must not boast in men, “for all things are yours, and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.”

1 Corinthians 3
c. AD 55The Corinthians are spiritual infants; leaders are only servants, and Christ is the one foundation.
