Having learned his lesson, David prepares to bring up the ark properly, this time carried on the shoulders of the Levites as the Law commanded, “because we did not seek him according to the rule.” He appoints singers and musicians to accompany the procession with joy, and the ark comes to Jerusalem amid trumpets, harps, and the shouting of all Israel.
